The chances of a dry-cleaning service misplacing your clothing may become drastically lower, as businesses here get help to tap on electronic chipping technology.
Under a new government intiative, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can now make use of a garment-counting system based on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to keep on top of things while cutting manpower needs. They can also apply for government funding to adopt the "ready to go" technology.
Presto DryCleaners is one SME that has adopted the garment-counting system using RFID tags, which contain information such as the owner of the garments sent for cleaning, laundry preferences and which outlet to deliver them to.
This system has helped Presto keep track of the thousands of garments that come in for cleaning daily without the need for excessive manpower. Instead of workers manually keeping track of them through receipts clipped onto the clothes, they can now be electronically tagged and scanned at each point of the cleaning process, which allows for quick and convenient tracking.
